Biography

My favorite thing about being a pediatrician is working alongside kids and families. I think that children are interesting and fun at all ages, from the sweet newborn stage to the terrible twos and on to the even more terrible teens. I love being a palliative care physician because I have the opportunity to spend time connecting to the essence of what makes each patient a whole person. I joined the University of Iowa Stead Family Children's Hospital team because I think that this health system does a wonderful job of blending the holistic care of patients with the advancement of medicine.

The Role of Art Appreciation for Mindfulness

Tuesday, March 19, 2024
There is so much beauty in the world. There is joy in seeing drawings on patient doors, artwork created by patient’s siblings and school mates displayed on hospital room walls, a hug of comfort between family members who are navigating a complex hospital admission together. The more we are able to find beauty around us, the more we have opportunities for mindful consideration.
